Pueblo Zapatista Roberto Barrios
Once again, I was very lucky. In El Panchan, a local guy asked us (friends and me), if we were interested in doing a junglewalk to amazing waterfalls and then to visit a Zapatista-Village. For free, because he wanted to make many pictures to advertise it as a tour. Oh yeah, I’ve always wanted to be in an add… we went there. It was amazing, though the very tense atmosphere in the village was imposible to ignore… We had lunch in that families home but the women didn’t talk to us at all, they just prepared our food. Fresh tortillas, blackbeans, scrambled eggs and salsa. At first the kids were very shy but then they couldn’t get enough of playing with the camera and posing for pictures and I was one of the main attractions, as I was the only blond girl there. It was a very touching moment when Patricio plucked a hibiscus-blossom and tucked it in my hair…
